The Aware Project (www.awareproject.org) hosts a series of monthly Psychedelic Awareness Salon events in Southern California. We are creating a connected and educated community that feels passionately about balancing the conversation about psychedelics.

TITLE: The Zendo Project: Psychedelic Harm Reduction

TALK DESCRIPTION: Psychedelics can result in overwhelming and uncomfortable experiences, more likely with high doses, amongst first-time users, and without adequate preparation or setting. Psychedelic harm reduction includes a variety of methods to help prevent and transform difficult experiences while in a non-ordinary state of consciousness. Zendo Project aims to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations and arrests, help volunteers improve their harm reduction skills, and desmonstrates that safe, productive psychedelic experiences are possible without the need for law enforcement-based prohibitionist policies.

BIOS: Erica Siegal, MSW, is a music and art festival harm-reduction volunteer for Zendo, as well as a client care coordinator for Alternatives Addiction Treatment in Beverly Hills, a mindfulness practioner, and psychotherapist. Brooke Balliett is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Psychological Assistant, and volunteers for Zendo.
