  • Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Santa Monica 1260 18th Street Santa Monica, CA, 90404 United States (map)

The Aware Project (www.awareproject.org) hosts a series of monthly Psychedelic Awareness Salon events in Los Angeles and San Diego. We are creating a connected and educated community that feels passionately about balancing the conversation about psychedelics.

TITLE: Coming Out Psychedelic: A talk by Daniel McQueen

TIME: 7pm-10 pm

Talk starts promptly at 7:30 pm

Time will be allotted for book signing after the conclusion of the presentation.

TALK DESCRIPTION:

Join Daniel McQueen as he shares stories of his journey from trying to be a somewhat normal human being, to becoming an underground psychedelic guide, to being a legal, above ground practicing psychedelic plant medicine specialist in the United States. He’s grateful to share what he has learned along the way, and the many pitfalls he’s encountered, so he can support others interested in pursuing this core professional transition into the light of a very controversial field. Daniel will share what it has really been like to manage a psychedelic therapy center in the U.S. and will also describe two psychedelic programs he has helped implement that are potentially world transforming technologies: Cannabis-Assisted Psychedelic Therapy and the Extended-State DMT Expedition (DMTx).

In this age of extreme political polarization and the Climate Crisis, we might not have the time or luxury to bring our work into the world while solely conforming to the expectations of mainstream culture. It is time to organize our psychedelic identities into a diverse, inclusive and cohesive movement so that we can adequately transform the serious problems we face today. Psychedelic culture has something important to offer, and we have nothing to be ashamed of. It is our light, not our struggles, that the old paradigms fear the most.

BIO

Psychedelic lightning rod, Daniel McQueen, MA, is a psychedelic activist, therapist and guide, and author of the book, Psychedelic Cannabis: Breaking the Gate. Along with his wife, Alison McQueen, MA, LPC, ATR who served as Sub-Investigator in the MAPS MDMA-for PTSD phase 2 trials, in 2014 he is founded (possibly?) the first legal psychedelic plant medicine therapy center in the United States, the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness in Boulder, Colorado, serving as the executive director. Daniel also founded the international Cannabis-Assisted Psychedelic Therapy training program called Psychedelic Sitters School.

To test his own activist edges, Daniel initiated the Medicinal Mindfulness Extended-State DMT research and exploration program to implement a new DMT administration protocol that was designed by Dr. Andrew Gallimore and Dr. Rick Strassman. Most recently, with a team of Naropa aligned psychedelic advocates, Daniel helped found the non-profit Medicinal Mindfulness Center for Psychedelics, Spirituality and Sustainability to focus on the use of psychedelics in ethical professional settings for healing and to help transform the global Climate Crisis.

Daniel earned his Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in 2012 and is a full time psychedelic plant medicine specialist. He is a devoted husband and proud father of two amazing young ones who he is actively dreaming a good future for.

More information on his programs can be found at www.medicinalmindfulness.org, www.psychedelicsittersschool.org, and www.dmtx.org.
