On Wednesday, December 13, Hover Pictures will be hosting a discussion and an in-progress sneak-peek of clips from its forthcoming feature length documentary film Cura.
Cura presents an inspiring story of the healing power of family, community, and ceremony in the midst of the brutal American public health and criminal justice landscapes. This event will be co-hosted by Cura's Production team members Steve Holmgren, Ismail Ali, and Francesca Alfano, and Director Ethan Goldwater.
We are also grateful to have support from the Aware Project: Rethinking Psychedelics, InnerSpace Integration, and Guayakí Yerba Mate to make this event happen! It also coincides with the end of our Kickstarter campaign, which is ongoing and ends on Dec 17! Check it out at the link above :)

Ismail Ali is Policy & Advocacy Counsel for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), where he advocates to eliminate barriers to psychedelic therapy and research. Ismail is licensed to practice law in the state of California and also serves as Vice-Chair of the Students for Sensible Drug Policy Board of Directors. Ismail will speak about the War on Drugs, the promise of the rising entheogenic healing movement, and how that promise intersects with the reality of structural oppression and injustice in the United States.
Ashley Booth is a co-founder of InnerSpace Integration and founder of theAware Project: Rethinking Psychedelics. She was a psycho-spiritual retreat facilitator at Crossroads Treatment Center in Mexico and is a certified Kundalini yoga teacher. Currently, she is training in the somatic-based technique known as the Hakomi Method as well as pursuing a Masters in Social Work. CURA follows Yolanda, a Bay-Area mother working with ancient, innovative, and visionary medicine to heal the ancestral trauma and drug addiction that has plagued her family for generations. After one of her sons dies from a preventable overdose in an Oakland jail, she strives to save her other son Donny from a similar fate.
